5 Ways Unstructured Play Boosts Learning (Plus Tips-By-Age Guide!)Sharing the most recent Kindermusik - Minds on Music blog post via our own blog to highlight reasons why unstructured play boosts learning in children of all ages. Read more to explore questions like why is unstructured play important, what does unstructured play look like at different ages, and more. The most important thing to remember that even if you feel like you're not being hands-on letting them play in an unstructured setting, in fact, you are being hands-on by implementing a safe environment for them to explore their freedom and assert their preferences and creativity. Within the article, you'll also find the streaming capability of Kindermusik’s rhythmic chant, “Ev’rything Is Just Fine” for some daily motivation and inspiration.
Jump Rope Songs![]() A classic childhood activity that often incorporates song and rhyme to keep the necessary rhythm is jumping rope. Jumping rope gets kids moving during playtime and helps children practice keeping the cadence of a song or rhyme by saying them along to the movement of the rope. Jump ropes are a great tool that not only encourage a healthy, active lifestyle, but help children translate learned skills from playtime to playing instruments/singing songs as they grow up! They also help children develop hand, eye, and feet coordination, as well as learn new gross motor patterns that boost cognitive function. Remember - children learn best when they're having fun and they're usually having fun when they're moving! We've compiled a few classic and modern jump rope rhymes for families to use this Summer while getting outside, getting active, and staying musical! Check out the YouTube link below to hear what a jump rope song usually sounds like. Start with Down in the Valley as it begins with the rope being swung along the ground back and forth rather than overhead. Great for first time and/or younger rope jumpers! Down in the valley |
