Listen to the Sounds of the XylophoneSharing another one of our favorite instruments to use in class! Listen to the sounds of the xylophone (glockenspiel) below and then enjoy making your own xylophone at home using mason jars (or glass cups), water, and food coloring! Explore pitch (how high or low a sound is) through this simple homemade experiment! You can make a variety of sounds and pitches by using different types of tools to tap the glasses and adding more water to the jars after your initial try. Make some music and keep on singing n moving at home!
Make Your Own GuiroCan you spot the guiro in the photo above? One of our favorite instruments to share during our classes is the guiro! We want you to be able to enjoy the sounds of the guiro at home too. Watch the guiro videos below and then try making your own guiro with items from around the house! Turn an empty water bottle into a "green" guiro! You Need: An empty ridged water bottle A stick, chopstick, spoon or pencil Embellishments: stickers, glitter glue, ribbon Sand and/or water: optional—to change the tone of the instrument How to do it: Rehydrate! Place the cap back on the bottle. Decorate the instrument with stickers and glitter. Tie a ribbon around the neck of the bottle to give it a little flair. Slide a stick or chopstick, spoon or pencil on the bottle ridges. Adjust the tone of the instrument by filling it with water or sand. Play your instrument and have fun! Hippity HoppingGet ready for the Easter Bunny's arrival by practicing your bunny hopping skills! We're sharing some resources from Scholastic today including a video that teaches all about Rabbits as well as a movement activity that combines movement with math skills when you explore the distances that different animals can jump! Have fun hippity-hopping with your little one!
